  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • soda - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • apples, peeled and finely chopped - 4 c
  • chopped walnuts - 1 c
  • Then blend in apples and walnuts
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • cream - 1/2 c
  • butter - 1/2 c
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp

How to make apple cake with caramel sauce

Cream sugar and shortening together; add eggs and dry ingredients. Then blend in apples and walnuts. Pour batter into 9 x 13-inch pan. Bake 1 hour at 350° in a 9 x 13-inch pan.Caramel Sauce:1/2 c. white sugar1/2 c. brown sugar1/2 c. cream1/2 c. butter1 tsp. vanilla1/2 tsp. salt Mix sauce ingredients together and bring to a boil. Serve warm over apple cake and top with whipped cream.
