  • vanilla - 1/2 tsp

How to make caramel cream sandwich cookies

Cream butter and gradually add brown sugar; cream well. Blend in egg yolk, then add flour. Stir until mixture forms a dough. Chill if necessary. Shape into balls size of a marble. Place on ungreased baking sheets and flatten to 1/8-inch thickness with palm of hand. Make a design by pressing with fork in one direction. Bake at 325° for 8 to 10 minutes until cookies begin to brown. Remove from sheet while warm. Place flat sides of 2 cookies together with frosting.Brown Butter Frosting:2 Tbsp. butter or margarine1 1/4 c. sifted powdered sugar1/2 tsp. vanilla4 to 5 tsp. cream Slightly brown butter or margarine in saucepan. Remove from heat and blend in powdered sugar. Gradually add vanilla and cream until spreading consistency.
