  • sifted flour - 2 c
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • sugar - 2/3 c
  • egg, unbeaten - 1 item
  • milk - 1 Tbsp
  • unsweetened chocolate, melted - 1 sq

How to make chocolate pinwheels

Sift flour once; measure. Add baking powder and salt and sift again. Cream shortening; add sugar gradually and cream together until light and fluffy. Add egg and milk and beat well. Add flour, small amount at a time, mixing well after each addition. Divide dough into 2 parts. To one part, add chocolate and blend. Roll each on floured wax paper into rectangular shape 1/8-inch thick. Lay plain sheet over chocolate sheet. Remove wax paper. Roll like jelly roll. Chill until firm. Cut into 1/8-inch slices. Bake on ungreased cookie sheet at 375° for 10 minutes or until done.
