Custard pie
Ingredients/Compontents of Custard pie recipe
- cups milk - 2 item
- cup sugar - 1/3 item
- eggs, separated - 3 item
- salt - 1/8 tsp
- nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
How to make custard pie
Scald milk. Beat egg yolks slightly, add sugar and salt. Stir constantly while adding hot milk. Beat egg whites to soft peaks and fold into milk mixture. Put into crust and sprinkle with nutmeg. Bake at 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and bake for 25 minutes.If baking more than 1 pie at a time, may take a little longer than 25 minutes. Check for doneness by inserting thin blade knife into center of pie. If blade comes out clean, it is done. This make (1) 9 inch pie.
