Dill pickles
Ingredients/Compontents of Dill pickles recipe
- to 40 small pickling cukes - 25 item
- cider vinegar - 1 qt
- water - 3 qt
- pickling salt - 1 c
- alum - 1 Tbsp
- to 5 stalks fresh dill or dill seed - 4 item
How to make dill pickles
You will also need one quart Mason jars.Wash cukes and soak in cold water for 1 to 2 hours. Mix vinegar, water, pickling salt and alum together in large porcelain or aluminum kettle. Bring to a boil and let boil 10 minutes. In water bath canning, heat Mason jars and dome lids and rings. Fill each jar with as many cukes as possible. Add fresh dill or 1 tablespoon dill seed to each jar. Cover with hot liquid. Place lids on jars and process no more than 5 minutes in water bath canner. Remove and cool 24 hours before storing in cool place.
