- shortening - 1 c
- brown sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- sifted flour - 3 c
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- cloves - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- raisins - 1 c
How to make new england cookies
Cream shortening; add sugar, then eggs. Add flour and spices. Dissolve soda in small amount of hot water and add to sugar mixture. Stir in raisins. Spread in sheet pan, very thin. Bake in 350° oven for approximately 20 minutes. While warm, frost sparingly with powdered sugar and milk glaze and cut into squares.
